# VIN

`Config.Features.vin` · `Config.VIN`. A 17-character vehicle identification number for every owned vehicle.

On start City Hall adds the `vin` and `vin_hidden` columns to the owned vehicles table (`autoMigrate`). Vehicles get a VIN the first time the Vehicle Registry loads them; `_generatevin` in the server console fills every vehicle at once. The VIN shows in the Vehicle Registry, works in `getVehicleInsurance` / `addVehicleInsurance` instead of a plate, and `/checkvin` shows VIN, owner and insurance of the closest vehicle to the jobs in `checkCommand.jobs`.
